1110/136 Boxed In

Post by dragoner » Thu Jan 30, 2014 1:22 am

Stepping out on the tarmac, Sylmari speaks into his comm, and up through the air, seen darkly in the night sky, the chameleon camouflage of their armor giving an ethereal quality, a Marine patrol from the base. The Marines gently touch down like angels, toes barely touching the ground, before standing, weapons raised; “What’s the problem?” A grizzled Lieutenant asks, (a product of promotion from within the ranks, going from conscript to professional).

“Arrest them.” Sylmari says, his voice clouded by the respirator, but with the sweep of his arm, the gesture clear enough.

More Marines arrive, to clear the ship, Senoj objecting, complaining loudly in confusion about what is going on; Avi, on the other hand, looking morose. The crew bound, are taken up into the air, carried by a Marine on each arm, to be ferried to the base brig. All except for Elliot, for in a highly class stratified society like the Imperium, being man-handled by the Emperor’s Elite Troops won’t do. At least as civilians, the rest of the crew aren’t treated as bad as conscript soldiers and spacers would be, with truncheons and rifle butts. Eliot is gently afforded a back seat in The
Imperial Naval Officer’s speeder, with Orlova holding the door for him.

Once at the brig, similar treatment is seen, the crew, after being relived of any weapons, are escorted to a glass cell, not terribly uncomfortable, but not as comfortable as the lounge where Elliot is staying, with stewards to pour him a cup of tea if he so desires. Those with their comms are able to log into a ‘Public Defender’ app, to see what charges are brought. “Obstruction of Justice” is the most pertinent, but for Fusil and Litnam, they are culled forth with further charges of “Assault on an Officer” and “Receiving stolen Imperial Property” (with the supplies from the Pehkea as evidence, the boxes most likely having been electronically tagged). Time of the night passes slowly, with only the Marines bringing through enlisted conscripts through mostly, their having been summarily judged and either time added to their tour or assignment to a punishment battalion, depending on the offense.

Oddly enough a scout appears and lets himself into the cell, looking to be about 38, lanky build, and the dead white complexion of a ‘jump junky’. His worn light blue Scout’s jacket is offset by a new shoulder patch: Security Branch of the Operations Office of the IISS. Looking at the crew, he hems a bit, probably unused to talking to people, too used to spending time alone in a Suleiman. He calls on his comm and has Elliot brought from his lounge area.

“Yeah, ah, I see you have got yourself in a bit of trouble, see, ah, I can fix that. But you can do something for me, carry some passengers to Andor. Got a situation brewing here. I talked to that Sport, Hesayi, like he’s got nothing to do with it, but he clued me into where you were scheduled to go. So what you say, yes? You can take Hesayi and his cargo, plus whatever cargo you were going to take; but I’ll need your cabins and one of the cells. Pay double what you are asking, Imperial business. I’d like to leave soon though, Friday, that’s uh, 138/1110, earlier the better, 1100 or so.”

[ooc: So what do you guys say to the Scout? Geris also has a sort of preempt in that he could be looking at and responding to the broker’s spam that was on his comm earlier.]

The Scout looks at his comm, then looks back at Geris, "Pilot Dahl? Scout Zikuusharda, Kherarmir. Kheramir Zikuusharda, that's my name, though people just generally call me 'Kah'. Um yes, well with a Navy judge, pretty bureaucratic, or more like petty, love to gig a spacer; but you know, they'll trade a favor for a favor with the Scouts. The favor will be a bigger coup then throwing the book at you guys, I guess. A lot better than messing with a Knight, nobody gets ahead doing that; at least in the Navy."

Greg heard the offer and nodded to Geris, "This sounds interesting."

(Assuming Elliot says yes)

"Okay." Kah says, motioning to the Marines to let them out; once out, "See you Friday". Waving off the crew towards the desk where they can get their weapons back, then he wanders off down into the bowels of the security barracks, talking on his comm. The Marines are perfunctory, if taciturn, giving the weapons back. In front of the station, the crew catches an automated bus back to the landing field.

Greg nods, "I'll join you. And here I thought the worse we'd have to deal with these past 24 hours was my ATV driving. I'll get on looking for a ship engineer after this. But perhaps over Scotch we should talk about what to do with Fusil's and Lit's shares as well as who should be brought in going forward. Think that's something we should deal with sooner rather than later."

"Been ages since I've had a good Scotch. Shall we see if the good Doctor is interested in joining us? Sure she has some questions as well."

[ooc: The Doctor missed the fun stuff, she hasn't moved in yet, you guys can give her a call though.]

The Doctor texts back that it is a bit early, but she will move her plans up and be there soon. When everyone does see her, she has a fair amount of luggage, though it is being carried by her droid.

Sipping his Scotch (OOC: neat, which is how I like mine), he sets it down when the Doctor shows up, "Welcome Doc, need a human hand to help with those bags?"

Turning to Geris, "Shall we meet once the good Doctor has time to settle in and take care of whatever is needed? Also, before I forget, we need to discuss an issue I found with the PAs. You need to know what's up as acting CO (OOC: I presume we'll formally change roles when we meet) before we go on this cargo run. Don't know if Lit had a chance to say anything while he was here."

"No, my droid Murga has them, I'll go put them in my cabin, be back in a sec." She says, managing her stuff.

Greg takes another sip of Scotch, "Damn, this is good stuff." After the Doctor has been gone for a few minutes, he says in a voice low enough that only Geris could hear, "Wonder how she would have handled herself today? Oh well, about the weapons systems..."

"Started looking into our weapons systems. The conduits, transformers and coils on the PA barbettes have all been modified. They pack one hell of a punch not but may wreak havoc on the power plant. Important thing to know should we run into trouble. Still reading the specs to figure out a workaround."
