Regarding depressurizing prior to combat... can we do that as a merchant, if we have passengers aboard? Lots of passengers won't have ever suited up before.

I could certainly see a merchant ship restricting passengers to cabins or emergency stations if it looks like trouble's brewing. Put them on breathers and start reducing interior pressure at a measured rate, like a diver returning to the surface, so passengers without suits won't get the bends. If you do get a hull breach, it's a whole lot less dangerous (and less air mass lost) if interior pressure were at 4-6 psi to start with, instead of Terran normal 14.7 psi.

Look for walls with iris valves as bulkheads for decom sections, though decks are normal, but be wary of things like air pockets, they will expand. Different ships and places will have different procedures for what they do regarding the issue.

Good. I know this isn't the OOC forum for actual game progress, but in keeping with the discussion thread above...

Elliott will look through the ship's documentation and see if there's already procedures and standards for each "compartment" (i.e. not rooms but each pressure-isolated section). If there are, he's going to review them and improve their safety if necessary (thinking of pirate actions, basic equipment failures, and other sudden ways things go sideways that he's probably already experienced).

If he doesn't find these, he's sitting down and writing them, when he isn't out and about doing the Brokering thing.

There are protocols, this is a military ship, but Elliot can write up what he wants.

If we already got 'em for this class ship (Navy protocols, that is), we'll use 'em, since everyone on the command team has at least some Naval experience and will be familiar with them. (Even Elliott.)

We'll fly as we trained, and train as we'll fly.
