An armoured Vacc Suit is a decent "combat armour on a budget" option.

As you can see on her thread Luurani spent most of her cash on a custom Boarding Vacc Suit. If you can afford to upgrade it may be worth it, although hopefully we won't get into any firefights. At least, not on the ship.... I can't see any obvious gaps in you kit list.

BTW, I don't know if I've actually said "Hi, welcome to the game" to Scott and you yet, so: Good to have you with us.

Normal Vacc Suits don't raise the questions Combat Armor raises either.

The CR is weird there at the end.

Can I get that list in a regular text?

Ship's Locker will have a TL12 Vacc Suits and Shotguns, things like that. Anything extra and on top of that you want, it is on Tigran's dime, he can buy the improved boarding suit if he has the money.
Once gear is solidified, I will extract the list and post in my character sheet thread.
Thanks. :)

The Raider Fleet's structure is loose and flat, as a rigid hierarchy would fall apart or be destroyed. The Scouts are a separate service, entirely, allied but not part of the League of Non-Aligned Worlds that the Raider Fleet is part of. Tigran's rank as a Scout wouldn't have much meaning, the RF itself is more about positional-actual rank rather than title, similar to the way special forces work now. He is acting Captain of the Gazelle, which still should be named, btw; though someone else might just call themselves 1st Pilot, a lot of it is duty, things won't work if people don't know what they are doing, there isn't much room for 18 year old recruits. The consensus model, such as from a privateer or mercenary unit, is more apt, than a 20th century military POV.

It is also important to add that what differentiates people from the average machine, is volition, the will to change things, or to struggle against fate. Machines, robots, spacecraft even, have self-awareness, sentience; they just lack the drive or will, and are more likely to be just reactive to their environment.

The quickest summary is the 1st post of the IC thread, the Black Ships are attacking Bau, the Gazelle was en route from Razrina to Bau to be used in its defense, when Engineer Casti from the Nitocris, a frontier trader, called in for support for the crew of the Bull in the Heather, transport fleet command from the fleet refueling at the Gas Giant Hobart, detailed the Gazelle to come check it out.

Then here we are.

Just looked back through the game ( trying to see how badly I'm hit - I think -5 End, -1 Dex currently? ) and noticed that the moon we're heading for is only about 30 minutes away at full thrust. Let's dawdle...

The fleet at Hobart is more like 11 days away it seems ( it'd be quicker to Jump there ) .Do we report the situation, or go looking for the Droyne and report later? I mean, the ship is meant to be en route to Bau, and we nearly have a full crew now... but there's intelligence to gather, and how much use is a little escort in a fleet action?

Ultimately it is up to you guys, the players as to how important the Duneyr is in the big picture. I would agree that normally in the grand scheme of things it wouldn't seem to be that important, and as gathering intel would be more important.

It's safe to figure that the fleet at Hobart is gone, or will be once you get there, if you go. Doc is in cold sleep and needs tending to.

Edit: maybe I shouldn't have answered, feel free to ignore what I have said, though the Doc, he is a loose end.

If we scout the moon and get away I'd favour Temorul as our next stop. Get Doc into a hospital and be in range of Bau. But that's getting well ahead of ourselves. At least we're clear to go find our own trouble.

edit: Glad you replied, cleared up the Fleet/Bau issue. I feel Doc is still part of our crew, rather than a loose end.

Khaek is more of a loose end, less part of the crew - he kinda deserted :)

Well, first, we don't really announce ourselves as Raider Fleet unless it's absolutely necessary ( it never is ).

The mercs are locals. They've got a base on one of the inner planets, and they are the nearest thing to system defence this place has got. We haven't done anything to threaten them, they're here because Luurani was complaining about the pirates, and asking anyone around to help deal with them. This ship is just their first responder - the nearest thing - I'd guess. There's a lot more behind it, and we might need them on our side again another time.

( Gurutz and Yejide can tell Tigran and Zaphod this )

^^^ What Bindoner said.

The Mercs are based out of Chaffee: http://dragonersdomain.com/forum/viewto ... =334#p8487

Ostensibly they are to protect Weare against encroachment by the Graedexl, the rest well ... they aren't talking.

You guys are Raider Fleet, Pirates, or Mercs; however you represent yourself to be, the only caveat:

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”

We said we were fleeing from pirates and requested assistance. They said "what's in it for us?", we said "the pirate ship". We didn't really say who we were, just that we were being chased.

Edited to respond post written while typing.

Maybe say we're freelancers, working a contract. Perhaps securing/patrolling a trade route or something. Responded to the report of pirates, saw off the threat, carrying on with orders. ( BTW - where is that Q-Ship Cutie, Bertha? Is it making for the 100D line or staying around... )
