Doc will assist Dax, take aim at one of the hit creatures and try to cover his withdrawal.

Ranse will keep covering the ridge, waiting for a target. No way he's going to be stuck climbing a rope when they show up. "Did that lab door look openable? We may need to fall back to a more defensible position if these things push the attack."

ooc, how large are they? Mastiff? Bovine? If we had to retreat inside, would they be able to get into the doorway as it is or would they have to expend time/effort ripping it open further? And 100 round magazine? I need to pick a couple of those up for those spray-n-pray moments (like what seems to be coming up).

OoC: The Light ACR's standard magazine is a 100 round box. The creatures are over a 100kg, if they stood like a man they would be about 2m tall, but they run on all fours. They might be able to rip the door open, maybe not, you could push rubble if front of it maybe; no guarantees.

The Doc fires into the lead creature (C1):

Roll One
Generating 1 rolls of 2d6+1, 1 per line.
Comment: initiative

9

--------------------------------------------------
Roll Two
Generating 1 rolls of 2d6+2, 1 per line.
Comment: to hit

8

Damage (HEAP): Roll One
Generating 1 rolls of 3d6-2, 1 per line.
Comment:

8

The creature's hide act as armor 2pts, the HEAP, bypasses 4, for 8 total.

The creature is getting wobbly but still staggering forward, the other three coming on strong. Dax pushes Doc back as they retreat to the south hall, where he then turns to make his stand. Ready to fire another full auto blast.

Doc will move out of the way, but will stay close enough to keep feeding the creatures HEAP rounds.

Khaek slides to a stop and looks up at the top of the cliff. "Jump and I'll catch you." Khaek says.

Nowhar recovering from the adrenaline rush started by the packs appearance says in a more controlled voice "Acknowledged. Descending now. Tango's 80meters out moving fast." Grabs a rope and begins descending as quick as he feels he can.

OOC: please let me know if I need to roll anything for the descent

Good thing you didn't jump to your death, it will take a couple of turns for Nowhar to get down, even with a quickness.

Next up: Will Dax survive?

Still waiting on a target or Nowhar's presence on the ground.

-- lots of ooc queries...
What was moved outside for reclamation at this point?
The patches...how do they work, and about how large are they? Do they need to be welded on to something in order to be effective, or self-sealing by yanking off a backing to activate a reaction that effectively solders a bead around the edges?
The rope we used to get down...actual rope, or some sort of wire? (Basically how durable is it, should these things start hacking on it...Nowhar may end up taking a plunge anyway if things go suitably wrong.)

The line is a poly-carbon metallic tether line, unbreakable for intensive purposes, at least here, at least a metric ton test. The patches are a metal backed self-caulking substance, press a button and hold in place for six seconds and they self-adhere. Afaik, the only things that stayed down were the plasma cutter and some of the tools, but I'll let you have the patches, Nowhar could have brought them down, or they might not have made it up when things went south.
