Okay so 50% off what now? Hmmm ... I think I'll just say time wise? Either way it gets setup, I can't see it costing another 10,000Cr.

MOOSE - Manned Orbital Operations Safety Equipment - was a proposed emergency "bail-out" system capable of bringing a single astronaut safely down from Earth orbit to the planet's surface. The design was proposed by General Electric in the early 1960s. The system was quite compact, weighing 200 lb (91 kg) and fitting inside a suitcase-sized container. It consisted of a small twin-nozzle rocket motor sufficient to deorbit the astronaut, a PET film bag 6 ft (1.8 m) long with a flexible 0.25 in (6.4 mm) ablative heat shield on the back, two pressurized canisters to fill it with polyurethane foam, a parachute, radio equipment and a survival kit.

The astronaut would leave the vehicle in a space suit, climb inside the plastic bag, and then fill it with foam. The bag had the shape of a blunt cone, with the astronaut embedded in its base facing outward. The rocket pack would protrude from the bag and be used to slow the astronaut's orbital speed enough so that they would reenter Earth's atmosphere, and the foam-filled bag would act as insulation during the subsequent aerobraking. If asked about the Flamer (PGMP-13) Czernobog will prattle on:

Induction heating is the process of heating an electrically conducting object (usually a metal) by electromagnetic induction, through heat generated in the object by eddy currents. An induction heater consists of an electromagnet and an electronic oscillator that passes a high-frequency alternating current (AC) through the electromagnet. The rapidly alternating magnetic field penetrates the object, generating electric currents inside the conductor, called eddy currents. The eddy currents flowing through the resistance of the material heat it by Joule heating. In ferromagnetic (and ferrimagnetic) materials like iron, heat may also be generated by magnetic hysteresis losses. The frequency of current used depends on the object size, material type, coupling (between the work coil and the object to be heated) and the penetration depth.

An important feature of the induction heating process is that the heat is generated inside the object itself, instead of by an external heat source via heat conduction. Thus objects can be heated very rapidly. In addition there need not be any external contact, which can be important where contamination is an issue.

Sort of deciding if there would be an lightning bolt, or some sort of ball lighting to hit the target; then with plasma fire at the snout of the projector after firing due to the electrical discharge (similar to the flame at the muzzle of a flame-thrower after firing).

For the door weapon itself, it needs a triangulating frame or bracket to mount the gun/projector, and for the pack field coil/battery/capacitor feeding off the Ship's Boat reactor.

That NASA version relies heavily on a well-operating SAR organisation. Or at least something to dissolve the foam.

I can't find the Traveller image of the Spacer using the kit, but I did find a empty one. It isn't much different:

The Induction weapon seems MUCH safer to be around than the classic PGMP, with it's crazy radiation flare.

Yes, I forget where I first saw the Traveller one (edit: image is on one of the challenges I think), it is lot like this one, also NASA maybe:

Flamer I took from Starship Troopers, the book, and combined it with induction heating; though I think one of PF Hamilton's books has an inductive heat weapon too. Just tightening up the SF a bit, I also say the FGMP is a Portable Particle Accelerator, same rules though, waste not want not.

Still not the one I'm thinking of:

Hope we never need to use them for survival, but perhaps we can play "budget Jump Troops" :)

Can we order MG ammo "online"? There's a gun seller on Level 7.

Should be bought under the table. It takes disintegrating belts, 100 round belt Cr 120, tripod mount, Cr 250. Two belts can be linked to carry 200 rounds in a box (magazine), in a vehicle.

Roll streetwise.

Zhenya finds that going back to the seller, they have a contact in the Bazaar that has the belts and ammo; how many belts does she order? Another thing to think about, is to pay off the station management.

OOC: After recent events, Elton has no desire to leave the ship for a while. :)
I had a character in another game who never set foot on a planet. Loved EVA, happy as a clam in Highports, but thought Dirtballs were disgusting vectors of disease and infection, full of hostile lifeforms, and no proper environmental control. "Never get off the ship" taken seriously. Unfortunately the game finished before he was forced to break his taboo - that would have been fun.

Don't do that, I've just booked us in to a beach resort :D .
